India, Here We Come

“You’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So… get on your way!”
― Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!

Some point during my second pregnancy I thought it would be a great idea to spend a month of my maternity leave in India. You’re asking, “why India? And why with a toddler and a newborn?” You see, I’m no stranger to the country. Having married a South Indian, I’ve had the privilege of traveling to India several times. We try to go often to see the family. But the trips are always a short two weeks. And while we always try to sneak in one side trip to a new part of the country, we tend to spend the majority of our time in one city, with our immediate family.

Knowing my maternity leave might be one of the last times I have the opportunity to spend a good chunk of time in the country, I came up with a crazy idea. What if we go to India for a month; spend 2 weeks with the immediate family, then spend 2 weeks traveling to places we have yet to see? Even crazier, what if we ask close friends who have always wanted to come to India to join us as we travel around?

The really outrageous part: my husband and friends went along with the idea.

So this is the start of the journey for my self, my husband, a toddler, an infant, and three brave friends. Tickets have been booked and plans are in motion.

I hope you join us for the journey. Follow us as we prepare for the trip, as we introduce the newest member of our family to India, and as we travel to the vast corners of this amazing country.
